Specialist builders are generally good builders that have a clearly favorite Robot Type, have extensive knowledge of it, and are mostly good or very good at building it.

Misc specialities:
Anything gut ripper-ish: Naryar
Anything under a MW class: Ianh
Anything DSL: Naryar
