Call of Duty is a first-person and third-person shooter computer/video game franchise. The series began on the PC, and later expanded to consoles and handhelds. Several spin-off games have also been released. The earlier games in the series are set primarily in World War II, this includes: Call of Duty, Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 3. Beginning with Modern Warfare, which is set in modern times, the series has shifted focus away from World War II. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (released November 2007) was followed by Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Black Ops (released November 2010) takes place in the Cold War, while Modern Warfare 3 (released November 2011) takes place in the near-future setting. Black Ops 2 (Released November 13, 2012) takes place in the year 2025.

BBEANS (Bot Battle for Eminent Autonomous Supremacy) is a series of AI tournaments hosted and filmed by Clickbeetle. The BBEANS tournaments are considered by many to be the the most successful and most popular RA2 tournaments of all time, like the Olympic Games IRL.
The Call of Duty games are published and owned by Activision with Aspyr Media publishing it for Apple OS X. While the studio Infinity Ward primarily still develops them, Treyarch has also developed several of the titles with the release of the studios' games interlaced with each other. Some games have been developed by Gray Matter Interactive, Spark Unlimited, Pi Studios, Amaze Entertainment, Rebellion Developments, n-Space, and Sledgehammer Games. The games use a variety of engines, including the id Tech 3, the Treyarch NGL, and the IW 5.0. Other products in the franchise include a line of action figures designed by Plan-B Toys, a card game created by Upper Deck, and a comic book mini-series published by WildStorm. As of November 11, 2011, the Call Of Duty series have sold over 100 million copies.[1] As of March 31, 2012 there are 40 million monthly active players across all of the Call of Duty titles, with 10 million Call of Duty: Elite users and 2 million paying annual members. Over 1.6 billion hours of online gameplay have been logged Modern Warfare 3 since its 2011 release.[2]

Nearly all of bots entered in the tournament used building techniques that are now considered unacceptable (although some bots such as Event Horizon 2 and Flaming Whizzer were good and used many current techniques such as good space management, DSA, and snapper loading). BBEANS 1 was the first AI tournament ever done.

Summary of tournament:
 +

 +
The tournament's front runners emerged after two or three rounds were completed. As expected, Child's Play IV (ACAMS) led the pack in terms of Wins, KOs, and TKOs, closely followed by a surprise in LeVeL (InfiniteInertia). Also, Eco Jr. (Sorrow) and Shreddar (Somestrangeguy) rounded out the top four of the unbeaten machines.
 +

 +
Crowd favorites such as Brown Wreckluse 2 (Clickbeetle), Pillar of Fire (Firebeetle), 3.14-ston (Luigica), Bio Quad (Sage), Box of Grime (Dexterhunter), and Rigadoon (Barbie) seemed as if they all fell into trouble. Brown Wreckluse 2 (Clickbeetle), Pillar of Fire (Firebeetle), Bio Quad (Sage), and Rigadoon (Barbie) all managed to make strong runs in the losers bracket though.
 +

 +
In the quarterfinals, the four undefeated bots squared off. Child's Play continued to move along, shutting out Eco Jr with 2 KOs and 1 TKO. Shreddar upended LeVeL, managing 2 KOs while LeVeL earned a single TKO. The winner's bracket final, semifinal of the tournament would be Shreddar (Somestrangeguy) facing off against the undefeated Child's Play IV (ACAMS). Child's Play would survive an early scare, defeating Shreddar with a KO and a TKO, while Shreddar earned himself a KO.
 +

 +
LeVeL defeated some strong bots in Volatile Partisan (Phlox) and Eco Jr. (Sorrow) to advance to the Loser's Bracket final for a rematch against Shreddar (Somestrangeguy). The results from last time were reversed, with LeVeL (InfiniteInertia) advancing to the final from the loser's bracket with 2 KOs and a KO against him.
 +

 +
In the final, it went down to the last face off between the two bots. However, Child's Play IV (ACAMS) won the BBEANS3 title with a final TKO. The top two bots finished as follows:
 +

 +
Childs Play IV (ACAMS) 7 KOs, 9 TKOs, 7-0 record.
 +

 +
Le\/eL (InfiniteInertia) 14 KOs, 5 TKOs, 7-2 record.
 +

 +
The rumble between Brown Wreckluse 2 (Clickbeetle), Rigadoon (Barbie), Interceptor (Harcsa), and Shreddar (Somestrangeguy) was won by Rigadoon (Barbie) due to a blow to the wheel of Brown Wreckluse 2 (Clickbeetle).

An AI pack was released by Clickbeetle and is a compilation of all stock BBEANS tournament bots. Late resubmissions, bots that were replaced by newer versions, and rejected illegal entries are also featured in the pack. After BBEANS 6, a DSL BBEANS pack was made as well: .
