Octane Glitch
The Octane Glitch is a Flamethrower Glitch discovered by JoeBlo and named after a highly flammable substance that is a key ingredient in fuels, it was also a nickname JoeBlo gave the AI.py code to assist these glitching robots in its early stages which eventually stuck.
The Glitch itself involves allowing Flamethrowers to shoot 3x-4x past there normal range via various construction methods, the robot is required to spin the flamethrowers either as a traditional spinner of the robot itself spinning (SnS)
Flail Octane Glitching
The first robot to perform this glitch was High Stakes made by JoeBlo, A Superheavyweight Shell Spinner which was covered in Flail Flamethrowers.
The Glitch has the tendency to be rather "havoky" traditional spinning robots with flail flamethrowers tend to AGOD and while chassis spinning robots like SnS's that utilize it tend to be more "stable" they too are still rather havoky
Motor Octane Glitching
JoeBlo later released a set of 3 SnS robots that all performed a much more stable Octane Glitch using different motors in the botlab.
- First using burst motors enhances flame length a bit more.. (not quite flail length)
- Burst pistons, gets just as far as bursts motors but fire the pistons and it makes the flames go full flail length for about 5 seconds (before firing again)
- Servo pistons, gets just as far as bursts but wire expand to the spin control so its constantly running and you get the length of flail flamethrowers constantly
Variants In Use
JoeBlo has made various uses of the glitch including (but not limited to)
- A flail hammer with flamethrowers as a BOTM entry called Spitfire, the glitch allowed the robot to throw large fireballs as opposed to the normal stream of fire
- A face spinner called Volcano that had massive streams of fire that covered nearly half the combat zone
