Mauler Dance
Mauler Dancing happens when a spinner loses part of it's weapon. Most if not all spinners have symmetrical, balanced weapons. When the weapon becomes unbalanced and the spinner still spins, a Mauler dance happens. The faster the weapon is and the more unbalanced the weapon is, the more severe the mauler dance will be. The bot begins to wobble, completely taking away it's drivetrain. The name comes from the real life Battlebots competitor Mauler that was left spinning on its edge after it lost one of its spinning flails in a match against Bigger Brother.
Mauler Dancing is caused by the centrifugal force acting on an unbalanced fast-spinning weapon.
Mauler dancing is an issue on HSs. The more spinners and weapon heads you have, the milder the Mauler Dance is. But if you lose one of your weapon head on a LW with only one spinner, be prepared to the spikeball mode.
To get a Mauler Dance, just rip off one of Tornado's sledgehammers or one of Berserker's axes.
A somehow similar uncontrolled robot action is Spikeball mode. Note that a bot can go into spikeball mode as a result of mauler dancing.
While the original mauler dance was on a HS, similar stability issues are also a problem on VSs, when a weapon imbalance causes the VS to shake vertically . This renders your wedge useless, messes up your driving, ruins your stability, makes landing a hit with your weapon difficult, and can make you lose the fight easily.
