Ballasts are available in both Stock and DSL. The defining feature of a ballast is its dead weight. They can be used to alter the weight distribution of your bot.
Considered by most to be of little use, proponents claim that ballasts may be used to improve your wedge. If you put ballasts in the front end of your chassis your wedge will have more pressure on it and theoretically be better.
Opponents to their use say that the weight can be used for something else (regardless of it being stock or DSL). For this reason, they are deeply scorned by Naryar.
