Perm

Perms are greenish-gray, medium-to-high-power spin motors in DSL-TC that come in "80" and "132" sizes. They are popular choices for heavier (Middleweight and heavier) spinners as opposed to other motors such as TWM3R/E-Tek variants because the perm axles (as defined by the game) are on a drive chain, meaning that the axle can stick out farther from the motor without extenders. The aforementioned axles have two different attachment points. A word of warning about perms, though: as good of weapon motors as they are, perms make horrendous drive motors.

In DSL2, these motors (except for the dual-perm) came in Short (S), Medium (M), Long (L), and Extra Long (EL) variations. Unfortunately, even the EL perms didn't have long enough drive chains to see much use out of the attachment point that faces the motor. Additionally, the perms of the same size and different chain lengths have different weights. Nevertheless, people dealt with it and the perm remained popular.

It wasn't until DSL3 that Clickbeetle made perms even more useful by replacing the S/M/L/EL perms with 40, 80, 120, and 160cm versions. Regardless of drive chain size, perms of the same size have the same weight. There are also armored versions, which have the same power and maximum speed as their non-armored counterparts, but have higher HP and weight.

There are three types of perm motor:

Perm-80

The Perm-80 is the weakest and lightest variant of the perm motor. It has 167 maximum speed, but only 18 power. In DSL2, the 80S perms weigh 45kg, 80M weigh 47kg, 80L weigh 49kg, and 80EL weigh 51kg. They all have 4500HP and six attachment points. Generally, they are used on middleweights and, occasionally, lightweights.

Perm-132

The Perm-132 is significantly stronger than the Perm-80. They boast 200 max speed and 8000HP, but only have a measly 27 power. In DSL2, the 132S perms weigh 90kg, 132M weigh 95kg, 132L weigh 100kg, and 132EL weigh 105kg. These are popular spin motors on middleweights and heavyweights.

Dual Perm-132 Gearbox

The mother of all spin motors, it has the capability to reduce bots to smithereens. They have 11000HP, 200 max speed and 68 power. They have the same maximum speed as the single Perm-132, but they have much higher torque than the single perm. The dual-perm weighs 220kg. Due to its immense mass, it is mostly used for heavyweights and superheavyweights. However, it is possible to build a middleweight with a Dual Perm. For example, Badnik96's Hypo Blender.

Trivia

  • Both the Perm-132 and Perm-80 exist in real life
    • Perm-80s seem to have been discontinued, however.
