Iron Spike
Template:Infobox Component Weapon
The iron spike, also known simply as an 'iron', is a weapon introduced in the stock version of Robot Arena 2. It is large, blunt block of metal with a crude tip.
Stock
The iron spike is one of the many spikes available in the stock version of Robot Arena 2. It has 1000 hitpoints like most components and weighs a reasonable 10kg. What set s it apart from the multitude of spike weapons in the game is its uncharacteristic bluntness for a spike - in both appearance and statistics. While most spikes inflict only piercing damage, the iron spike had a concussion value of 0.1 and a piercing value of 0.8. It also has no hit normals and can inflict damage with its blunt sides.
While it is far less popular than the go-to stock weapon, the razor tip, the iron spike still has enjoyed frequent use on rammers, pokers, vertical spinners, and horizontal spinners. The iron is popular on robots that have a limited number of places to place weapons (whether due to weight or the extender limit) and are more disadvantaged by the loss of one. While the it is the more conservative choice compared to the fragile razor tip, the iron spike's weight and slightly lower piercing damage have made it considerably less popular than the razor tip.
It is also noteworthy that the iron spike shares many qualities with the mace, which has also occupied a niche position in stock robot designs.
The iron spike's component file can be found in the "components" folder under the name "darkspike1.txt".
DSL
Statistically better but comparatively not as good as stock ones, DSL Iron Spikes deal rather low damage with only 300 DP (1.2 concussion, 0.98 piercing). However, they have 2000 HP. In the components folder, they are in Styles under the name "dsldarkspike1" - "darkspike1" is the STOCK iron spike.
