Custom components are components created by some players. Generally unbalanced. Not including skinning.

Generally, using custom components to fight other bots, especially stock AI, is considered as cheating, the n00b or ed30t behaviour.

DSL parts are technically custom, but as it is a mod you won't be cheating unless you mix DSL with Stock, or use replica-only parts (Basically all cheatbot2 components excepted the smartzone)

Worse, showcasing robots with custom components on them is one of the best paths to change your showcase in an all out flame war, excepted if you use them for making a unique bot and not a combat one (like Clickbeetle and Madiaba do sometimes)

The only custom component considered tournament-legal are smartzones, provided they are used only for AI reasons.

A good way to showcase one without getting flamed is put it in a custom part showcase, as the forum now has a part for custom components
