A Wammer is a Wedge made of, or covered with, weapons, and therefore a Rammer/Wedge hybrid. The design is to force opponents on the wedges, and in the weapons. Notable Wammers are Devil II, Psyco Sweeper, Event Horizon 2, Agony and Cold Front.
Note that a standard rammer (with a non-angled weapon array) with a wedge added is NOT a wammer. To be a wammer, you have to use both a wedge-shaped front and weapons either on it, forming it, or on top of it.
Most often slower than rammers, they are also MUCH more common in DSL than in Stock.
The term itself was created by Clickbeetle (with Cold Front).
Pros&Cons
PROS:
- Wedge assures some defense against gut-rippers, like VS or Popups, and assures an edge against non-wedges
- Usually fast
- Good opponent control ability
- Lots of weight dedicated to weapons
- Good frontal defense
CONS:
- Underwhelming DPS (relies more on pinning)
- Unlike a rammer, forces one to fight the wedge war
- 1 vs 1 specialists
- Far less effective when inverted, and difficult to selfright : occasionally gets stuck on weapon rack
